Environment Club

With membership from Class VI-IX, the Club operates in collaboration with the Environment Education Center of DPS Society to sensitize students on environmental problems through a wide range of activities like water testing, tree plantation campaign, exhibitions etc.

ACTIVITIES – 2013 – 14


Worshop conducted by Mrs Darshan Sodhi for Environment Club students of Class IX-X to celebrate Eco Friendly Holi Students of Environment Club prepared Eco friendly Holi colours with plants products.

Campaign by Environment Club students in the school- To observe Earth Hour 2013- India on 23rd March , 8.30-9.30pm

Visit to Botanical garden, Noida , to study the rare medicinal plants and simulate the same in DPS Noida.


Celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April in the school by conducting following activities

  • Movie showcased on Earth Day 22nd April- ‘Wasted’ by Vimlendu Jha, followed by CCE Activity ‘Create-A-Craft’ Recycle waste (Paper, Cans, Bottles, e-waste) for Classes VI-VIII.
  • Movie showcased on Earth Day 22nd April- ‘HOME’ , a documentary film by Yann Arthus- Bertand,   followed by CCE Interdisciplinary Activity involving subjects – ENGLISH, SOCIAL SCIENCE  & SCIENCE( Innovative Advertisement on Alternative Sources of Energy’) for Classes IX and X

Environment Club students of Class IX made Paper Bins out of  used cartons and kept each in Classes VI and VII to collect waste paper for recycling.

Vishwa Bharati School, Noida , organised ‘ HARMONICA’ Earth Day -2013 Celebrations on 22nd April 2013. Number of  Inter school competitions were held with environmental issues .The theme of the event was ‘FUTURE EARTH—- The Face of Climate Change’. 9 Students from Classes V- XII, of DPS Noida, took part in various activities, BOOK-MARK DESIGNING, PAPER – BAG PAINTING, TILE PAINTING and WORD BLOCKS TO A GREENER PLANET- Advertisement with a message.


5 Students of Class XII were awarded the first prize for the Advertisement Activity.They were appreciated for their presentation , message  and innovativeness.

Participation in Earth Day Carnival on 26th April 2013.

9 Students of Class VIII Eco club members along with Mrs Darshan Sodhi  participated in the Earth Day Carnival on 26th April 2013, at Hon’ble Chief Minister Mrs Sheila Dixit ’s Residence, organised by WWF-India and Department of Environment, Delhi Government. The event saw 5,000 children from 400 schools come together to celebrate the theme of re-use, recycle and reduce.
Students took part in various activities like Animal Mask making, Poster painting, Story telling  and Animal Bingo . Each student calculated their own Earth Day Quotient and signed a pledge to do their bit for Mother Earth

DPS Vasant Kunj organised an Inter DPS Environment Fest “GREENWAVE ‘13” on 30th April 2013.

The Fest consisted of  number of events , including Just A Minute(JAM), Best Out of Waste, Face Painting and Photography for Classes VII to XII. 8 Students of DPS Noida took part in all the events.


Soumya  Suneja of Class VIII F and Soumya  Agarwal of Class VIII G secured First position in Face Painting Competition.
Syona  Singh of Class IX G secured Third position in Photography Competition , the theme being ‘Living with Nature’.


Inter school Short Play Competition on Water Conservation , Sanitation and Clean Drinking Water was organised by Rotary International District 3010, Indian National Polio Plus Committee in association with UNESCO on 10th May at Chinmaya Mission , Lodhi Road, New Delhi.


Team of DPS Noida won the first prize for the event.

Ministry of Environment & Forests , Botanic Survey of India, celebrated the International Day for World Biological Diversity, 2013 on the theme area ‘Water and Biodiversity’ on 22.05.2013.
The venue of the event was The Botanic Garden of Indian Republic (BGIR), Sector  38 A, Noida, through a series of  Environmental Awareness Programme.
Around 140 students of different schools of NCR took part in various competitions . 5 students of DPS Noida participated in Poster making and Science Quiz competition


Abhijay and Samarth Wahal of Class X E secured Third position in Science Quiz competition .

On 7th July 2013, 5 students of Class X attended Inauguration of the Entry Gate of Botanic Garden of Indian Republic, Noida.
All the 5 Students took part in Poster making competition .
Saplings were planted and  distributed during the function.


DPS Noida received consolation prize for poster making.

‘Level 1’ (School level) World Wildlife Quiz –India was held in the school . 145 Students of Classes VI, VII and VIII took part in the Quiz .



Ritupar of Class VIII H and Eesh Gujrania of Class VII A secured 1ST and 2ND positions

Various varieties of trees were planted by Mrs Sharada Nayak , Mrs Kamini Bhasin and Mrs Nidhi Singh in the front lawns after the Investiture Ceremony of DPS Noida, on 14th August 2013.

Independence day was celebrated with great pomp and show on 15th August 2013 in the school . After the Flag hoisting ceremony and cultural programme the school helping staff
( Gardeners, Drivers , Maids)  planted saplings of various trees near the school hostel .

‘Level 2’ (City level) World Wildlife Quiz –India was held in WWF-India auditorium, Lodhi Colony , New Delhi. . 75 Schools took part in the quiz.


Ritupar of Class VIII H and Eesh Gujrania of Class VII represented DPS Noida.
They achieved Consolation prize .


Class IX Students of Environment club prepared statues of old , used scent bottles with m-seal.

Environment club students of Class IX named the plants present in the gardens of DPS Noida.


111 students of Environment club of Classes VI-X together made Recycled paper bags from waste Newspapers .
Campaign and Poster making by 111 students of Environment club of Classes VI-X to create awareness amongst students not to burst crackers during Diwali.
