Environment Club

With membership from Class VI-IX, the Club operates in collaboration with the Environment Education Center of DPS Society to sensitize students on environmental problems through a wide range of activities like water testing, tree plantation campaign, exhibitions etc.

ACTIVITIES – 2012 – 13

In continuation with the motto to Mobilise the Earth ,Environment club of Delhi Public school , Noida ,conducted two major activities on  Monday 16 April, 2012 and Tuesday 17 April, 2012.

Poster making competition and Poetry writing competition on the topics ‘SAVE WATER’, ‘Say no to plastics’ and ‘CHANGING THE FACE OF THE EARTH’

All the students of Classes VI, VII AND VIII took part. The spirit with which they were painting or writing poetry was unimaginable.

As a part of celebrations of Earth Day Week, DPS Noida organised excursion for students of classes IX and X to Rajiv Gandhi Renewable Energy Park, Gurgaon. Workshops were conducted on energy efficiency and importance of renewable energy technologies. Movies were screened on alternative sources of energy and  working models of electronic devices working on solar energy, like solar concentrator, solar water heater, solar lanterns, solar dryers, fans run on solar energy, solar cooking, solar distillation , solar water pumping, and solar lighting were shown. Students got a good exposure to new renewable technologies which can be used in their daily life to live in a healthy environment.

Earth hour celebrations

CAMPAIGNS were organised by Environment club of Delhi Public School, Noida to create awareness amongst the students to Switch off lights on March 31, 2012, 8.30 – 9.30 PM. Students of Environment club made  posters to conserve energy , with the motto ‘Mobilize the earth’, and went around each and every class of the school campaigning to take care of their living planet by joining hands with billions of people around the globe by switching off lights for one hour .A number of posters were put up during the result day so that the awareness not only restricted to school children but people at large could be mobilized to join the cause. More than three thousand people were sensitized. All the students pledged they would switch off lights and also reach out their friends and relatives to do so.
