DPS MUN Club

MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB
Session 2010- 11

After days and days of research, hours of discussions, millions of phone
calls for help and guidance, and tons of fun, we are proud that 2010-11
has been a watershed year for the club as the students proved their mettle
at all conferences they attended.

At MUNQS, MUN organised by DPS Mathura Road in July 2010, Nayantara Nath
and Ahaan Mohan representing Russian Federation and Karan Malik and Nayanika
Varma, representing the Soviet Union in the Historic Security Council
received Best Delegate awards.

Mimansa Ambastha secured a High Commendation in the Financial Stability
Board. DPS Noida got the Best School.

DPS NOIDA MUN Club once again swept all awards at DAV Gurgaon at the MUN
Conference organized from 13th to 15th November 2010. We represented Russian
Federeation, Saudi Arabia and Senegal:

Ahaan Mohan – Russia SC; Tanya Kak – Russia GA; Abinaswar
Das – Russsia ECOSOC; Aashraya Sharma – Russia COPUOS; Shantanu
Derhgawen – Saudi Arabia HRC; Shantanu Bariar – Senegal GA,
got Best Delegate Awards.

Amartya – Russia IAEA; Aditya Prabhu – Senegal IAEA; Himanil
– Russia HRC; Gautam – Saudi Arabia FSC; Dhananjay –
Senegal COPUOS, got High Commendations.

Varun Srivastava got a Special Mention Award.

Gayathri Raj got Best Position Paper and Bhavesh Seth got Best Speaker
and a commendation for Position Paper.

DPS NOIDA got the Best Delegation Trophy.

Nayanika Varma received a recognition award for being Rapporteur of IAEA
in the conference.

Riddhi Kalsi, Ananyaa Mazumdar and Parul Mehra participated as an independent
delegation representing Bahrain.

At Zeste MUN organized by Ryan International School, Trans-Yamuna, Aashraya
Sharma – China SC and Duhin Nanda – China GA got Best Delegate
Awards.

The delegation represented by Aashraya, Shantanu, Subhalxmi, Sammera Rao,
Aiman Hashmi and Shantanu Bariar received Best Delegation.

At WORDZMUN 2010 held in Chandigarh from October 17th-19th 2010, DPSN
represented the Russian Federation, Israel and Sierra Leone.
Gautam Sridhar was awarded Best Delegate in the Crisis Committee, Amartya
in the SC, and Aashraya & Gayathri in the NATO – NAC got High
Commendations.

Aashraya also received the very prestigious Secretary General’s
Award.

Nayanika Varma received a recognition award for being Rapporteur in the
HRC.

DPSN also got the Best Delegation Award.

At INMUN, hosted by Ryan International Group Of Schools, the award for
best delegate in the IMO went  to Himanil Raina, and High Commendations
to Uday Anand, Archana S. Kumar and Sameera Rao in General Assembly, 1,
2 & 3 respectively.

At the first AIMUN 2010 where 106 schools participated from all over the
world, DPSN won the Best Delegation with a host of prizes.

The delegate awards were won by Aashraya Sharma in the SC, .Mansee Arora
in the UNESCO.

Mimansa Ambastha and Karan Malik in the ECOSOC and Bhavesh Seth in the
HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL. High Commendations went to Gautam Sridhar and Shambhavi
Sharma in the CRISIS COMMITTEE, Aiman Hashmi in UNESCO, and Tanya Kak
in the GA.

DPSN organized two Mock MUNs in the month of April and November, 2010,
to hone indigenious talent. Experienced MUNers were invited to chair various
committees. Close to 300 students from Classes IX-XII participated in
these sessions. The chosen ones were initiated into the Club.

The doyen of MUN, Mr. Akshay Sharma, conducted an Advanced Training Session
for the MUN Club in the school premises on December 24, 2010. In this
exhilarating session, he imparted finer nuances of what it takes to be
an exceptional delegate to the enthusiastic MUN aspirants, who lapped
it all up!

The year 2010-11 saw the MUN Club burgeoning with an unprecedented number
joining its ranks, making it a truly competitive forum to be in.

2011-12 promises to be another glorious year with new challenges and new
milestones.
