July 1 · A staff meeting was held, before the school re-opened for the students after the summer break. The Principal Mrs. Kamini Bhasin welcomed the teachers back to school and congratulated the staff for DPS Noida’s success in being selected for the coveted SwissIndia Classroom Exchange Programme. The teachers who had gone for other exchange programmes to France, Germany, Denmark, Spain & Australia also shared their experiences with the staff members.
July 2 · The Western Music Singers of DPS Noida(14) won the Overall Trophy at ‘Crescendo’ the Inter School Western Music Competition at Amity, Mayur Vihar. DPSN won the 2nd prize in Solo, Duet, Group Song and the Band Performance.
July 2 – 3 · Mihika Sharma of class V was the Semifinalist at the District Table Tennis Tournament organised by UPTTA and was awarded the trophy for Rank 4 by the Technical Director of UPTTA. July 3 · Eight outstanding sports persons of DPSN were felicitated by the Noida District Magistrate, NP Singh, at Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra. The ceremony was presided over by City Magistrate Mr. Bacchu Singh and eminent sports personalities. The Sports Stars of DPSN were awarded medals, 77 trophies and cash prizes. The Principal, Mrs. Kamini Bhasin was commended for her overwhelming contribution towards the promotion of sports in school.
July 4 · A student of class VII received a Certificate of Merit from CBSE, for her entry in the Poster Making Competition on the topic “Tobacco: a leading risk factor for noncommunicable diseases”. The entries were judged by a panel of experts.
July 5-9 · Aaliyah Singh of class VIII set two new records in the Junior National Championship(Swimming) held in Bangalore. She got two gold medals in 50 m and 100 m breaststroke and one silver medal. Seven students from DPSN participated in this event which is a record in itself.
July 6 · The festival of Eid was celebrated with joy and happiness by the children of Junior Wing. On this occasion children made beautiful Eid cards and enjoyed the feast of delicious sewian. A video on the importance of Eid was shown on the smart board in all classes conveying the message of peace and harmony.
July 8 – 9 · At the DPSSL MUN organised by DPS Sushant Lok, DPSN got many individual prizes, – three Best Delegates, one High Commendation, one Special Mention and the Best Photographer.
July 9-10 · Ms. Manpreet Kaur of the German Department attended a 2 day workshop ‘German Teachers Training 2016′ at Hotel Lalit, Barakhamba Road. 150 participants from Delhi and outside attended the workshop.
July 11 · Mrs. Ruchi Mehra of Commerce Department attended a Faculty Development Programme organised by ICAI. The topics of discussion were ‘Implementation of IFRS and Challenges before Commerce Teachers’ and ‘Companies Act 2013′.
July 11-13 · Mrs. Darshan Sodhi and Mrs. Anuradha Rawat of the Chemistry Department attended a 3 day Chemistry Enrichment Programme ‘The Spectacular World of Chemistry’ for teachers of classes VI-X at HRD Centre, DPS Dwarka. The workshop was an informative and comprehensive programme, giving insight into different aspects of ‘Chemistry in Everyday Life’, ‘Pedagogy in Chemistry-Role of IT’, ‘Chemical Bonding and Geometry of molecules’, ‘Green initiatives in Chemistry’, Thermodynamics’ among others. Prominent 78 resource persons from the field of chemistry conducted the sessions, all geared towards adopting a student centric approach where introspection is vital at every level.
July 13 · Fruits keep our body healthy and strong. A Fruit Chaat Party was organized for the children of Class I. It aimed at encouraging awareness among the children towards healthy eating habits and nutritional value of fruits. The children made a delicious fruit chaat in a bowl using seasonal fruits. Various nutrients present in their fruit chaat and their benefits were also discussed in the class.
July 14 – 15 · DPSN won the Overall Trophy at INCOGNITO, the Inter School Computer Science Competition, organised by Sommerville, Noida. The students won the 1st prize in Senior Quiz, Presentation, Sherlocked, Photography, Logo Programming, DJ Mixing and Pivot Stick Animation. They got the 2nd prize in QBASIC Programming and the 3rd in Gaming.
July 14 – 17 · DPSN won the Overall Championship at the National Inter DPS Swimming Championship, 2016, hosted by DPS Bhilai.
July 15 · DPSN won the ‘Best Original Script Play based on Oscar Wilde Quotes’ at Stage Kraft Competition held at Sanskriti School, New Delhi. Md. Arham of class XI won the Best Actor Award in a keenly contested event that saw 15 top schools of Delhi/NCR participating. · On the occasion of World Skill Day, which recognises the importance of acquiring skills as a means to meet the challenges of unemployment and underemployment. DPSN organised a felicitation ceremony for the girls of underprivileged sections of society who are being given free vocational training in the school, under the 79 programme ‘Gaurvi’. 8 out of 11 girls awarded certificates in the function were given appointment letters from A.S. Fashion Exports and 22 girls received start up kits. · The Interact Club organised its Investiture Function. 105 dedicated office bearers of the Interact Club, DPSN, received their badges from Shri. Shashank Agarwal, President Rotary Club, Major Dalbir Singh and other distinguished Rotarians who graced the function. · DPSN won the 3rd prize in the English Book Discussion at the R.L. Chopra Memorial Inter School Book Discussion Competition, organised by New Era Public School, Mayapuri.
July 15 – 17 · DPSN won the Best Delegation Trophy at DPSG MUN, organised by Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad. Nine students participated in this event. One student got Best Delegate Award, one received High Commendation and three got Special Mention.
July 16 · Mrs. Gurleena Sikka and Mrs. Rosemary Wilson of the English Department attended an interactive session on ‘Question paper Setting and evaluation’ at DAV Public School, Noida. Sh.Opkar Singh with his vast experience, expertise and long association with CBSE, was the Resource Person. · ‘Mukhaute’ the Dramatics Club of DPSN organised an Inter School Dramatics Competition on the theme of ‘Navrang’- an enactment of Hindi stories, written by eminent writers. 26 teams from schools across Delhi/NCR participated in this 80 competition. The plays showcased ‘Navrang’-the nine shades of human emotions and depicted the rampant evils of corruption, religious malpractices, illiteracy, poverty etc. in our society. The competition was judged by well known people associated with the world of theatre. The occasion was graced by Chairman DPSN Shri. Pramod Grover. · Mrs. Niti Jain of the Commerce Department attended an Enrichment Workshop on Changes in Curriculum for Accountancy, organised by CTA(Commerce Teachers Association) at Air Force Bal Bharti School. The speakers were Mr. G.S. Grewal and Mr. R.K. Khosla, eminent authors and educationatists. · The Sahaj Yoga Foundation conducted a workshop on meditation for the teachers of the Junior Wing in the AV room. The workshop was organized by Ms. Ranjana Verma retired teacher of DPSN, Mr. Anish Kohli from the foundation conducted the workshop along with Mr. Namit Seth, a DPSN alumni. He emphasized the importance of awakening the Kundalinis and promoting balance and happiness. All the staff members participated in the step by step process of this mediation. · Environmentalist and photographer, Mr. Narendra Sharma conducted a workshop for the teachers of the Junior Wing in the school MP Hall. He focused on the importance of making small changes in our habits in order to protect the flora and fauna of our immediate environment. Mr. Sharma showed a self made film about how he could bring back a variety of birds to his vicinity simply by planting fruit trees. He focused on the importance of taking ownership to protect the environment and gave many practical tips about how each one can contribute towards saving the environment. · A special PTA meeting was organised exclusively for students of class XII. The first term result of the exams held from May 25 to June 15 2016 was handed over to the parents during this PTA. · Principal D.P.S. Noida, Mrs. Kamini Bhasin, was conferred the Award of Best State Principal 2015-2016- U.P. & Uttarakhand Zone. This award includes a trophy, a citation and a cheque for Rs. 10,000/-. This award was in recognition of the exceptionally good performance of her students in the SOF Olympiad examinations. July 18 · 14 students from classes VI-IX attended a cultural session at the Japan Foundation where the style of making illustrations using water based ink painting technologies was taught. The children were also introduced to the works of Chihiro Iwasaki, an acclaimed Japanese artist who has done illustrations for children’s story books. 81 · Yamika Khanna of class X was selected amongst a batch of 5 interns from across the schools of Noida, Mayur Vihar and Indirapuram to participate in a 20 day Internship Programme ‘Edcams Summer of 16′ with Edcams Technologies, Noida. She worked as a Product Evangelist conducting case analysis, gathering primary data and studying user social behaviour. Her performance was rated as outstanding. July 19 – 20 · The students of Nursery Wing celebrated Mother’s Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Mothers were excited to have a fun filled day with their children. They were welcomed by their little ones with a super mom certificates, handmade cards, tiaras and pasta necklaces. Mothers were most touched when their little ones recited ‘Ma tu kitani achi hai’ and various other rhymes for them. Later the overwhelmed mothers penned down their emotions and joyful experiences on the message board.
July 21 · DPSN won the Overall Trophy at Crescendo, Inter School Western Music Fest, Organised by Amity, Mayur Vihar and won the 2nd prize in Solo, Duet, Group Song and Band.
July 22 · Mishti Mittal of class V won the 1st position in Folk Painting at ‘Creative Strokes’ – Inter School Art Competition, organised by Lotus Valley School, Noida. · 4 students of DPSN cleared the second level exam of the National Talent Search Examination, 2016 and are now declared as NTSE scholars.
July 23 – 26 · The Interact Club of DPSN partnered with the NGO Magic Bus Foundation for a 2 day 82 exchange programme between children of the Khare community in Noida and the interactors. On 23rd July the interactors paid a visit to the Prathmic Vidyalaya, Navada Nagar, Khoda participating in various sports based activities. On 26th July the Magic Bus children visited DPSN and the group indulged in interactive activities based on a Magic Bus module on the importance of education. The engaging activities helped in breaking the societal barriers between the two communities and made them realize how similar they are to each other. The community children were presented with study kits at the culmination of the programme. July 24 · DPS Noida was a centre for the Second NEET exam (earlier known as the AIPMT). More than 600 students took the exam from this centre and 65 staff members were involved in conducting the exam.
July 25 – 26 · HT Pace ‘Tree Making’ Best Out of Waste Activity was held for class V. It was a very interactive and interesting workshop. Students used old newspapers and other waste materials to make beautiful trees. July 26 · Aditya Tewari of DPSN got the third position in the Dr. Satya Paul Memorial Inter School English Debate, organised in Apeejay School Noida, to coincide with the Kargil Vijay Diwas. Over 28 schools from Delhi/NCR participated in the competition.
July 27 · Commerce students of DPSN won the 3rd prize in AdMad and Mock Stock at EComBiz, Inter School Commerce Competition, organised by DPS Gurgaon. · A group of students from classes IV and V won the ‘Special Prize’ in the Orchestra Competition category held at Father Agnel School, Noida.
July 28 – 29 · At the Inter School English Literature Festival 2016 – LUMINARIUM – organised by DPS Dwarka, the students of DPS Noida bagged the 1st prize in Contemporary Conversation, 83 Scribbled Stories and Shakespeare Well Versed. Overall the school bagged the First Runners Up Trophy.
July 29 · DPS Noida won the Overall Trophy at the Inter School Environment Festival: ‘Vasundhara – Celebrating the Colours of the Earth.’ The students won the 2nd prize in Nukkad Natak, Photo Relay, Model United Nations and Essay Writing. · At the Inter School Literary Festival Organised at K.R. Mangalam School, Greater Kailash II, Sahaj Garg of class VIII won the 1st Prize in Tramedy. · Mrs. Kamini Bhasin, Principal DPS Noida visited Diamond Rose Public School, Loni District, Ghaziabad for an inspection as member Inspection Committee, CBSE. The aforesaid school has applied to the Board for the approval of Composite Provisional Affiliation upto Secondary Level. · The students of class II celebrated ‘Community Helpers Day’ with great enthusiasm. The helpers of the school like the guards, sweepers, maids were invited. Their work and contribution to the school was appreciated. ‘Thank you’ badges and sweets were given to these helpers and they later spoke about the work they do. The students were shown videos on Community helpers.
July 29 – 31 · DPSN won the Overall Trophy at the Inter DPS Swimming Championship held at DPS Panipat. Students won 12 gold medals, 5 silver medals & 1 bronze medal. Aaliyah Singh of class VIII was declared the Best Swimmer with 5 gold medals in the individual category, one gold medal and one silver medal in relay.
July 30 · Mrs. Harleen Sharma of the Commerce Department attended a Workshop on ‘Recent changes in the curriculum of Accountancy’ at Ahlcon Public School, Mayur Vihar. It was an enrichment programme organised by Commerce Teachers Federation (CTF) attended by teachers of different schools across the country. ·
A PTA meeting for classes Nursery to XI was organised from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm. 84 Parents came in large numbers to discuss the progress of their ward with their ward’s Homeroom & subject teachers. ·
DPS Noida organized a colourful exhibition showcasing the enriching experience of its students during their Exchange programmes with Germany, Spain, France, Denmark and Australia. The exhibition was held to coincide with the PTA meeting in order to give the parents an insight into the varied experiences the students gather through such programmes. The highlight of the exhibition was a peep into the forthcoming, Swiss-India Classroom Exchange Programme 2016-17, an educational and cultural exchange of ideas, exclusively for the Economics students of class XI.
Activities Conducted through July · A ‘Nature Week’ was organized for the Nursery children to sensitize our little ones towards nature and inspire their love and appreciation towards it. Children planted seeds in pots and nurtured them with love and care. They watered their plant daily and were excited to watch it grow. This reinforced their learning of the functions of various parts of a plant and requirements for germination. They were most delighted to view the veins of a leaf under a magnifying glass. The students went for a nature walk and had fun while exploring the world around them. They collected leaves, grass , seeds, roots, flowers, twigs etc. in their little net bags and enthusiastically pasted their collection in their Art file. Children also made a garden collage and displayed it on the class board. The school gardener was also invited to demonstrate various tools used for nurturing the garden. It was indeed an exciting learning experience for the children as they discovered the magic and beauty of nature. · Morning assembly is being conducted in Class I on a regular basis. Each child gets opportunity to speak, recite poems, discuss amazing facts and thought of the day. This is a platform for children to express themselves and be confident speakers. Children also visit other sections to perform. · Earth Day Celebrations – Students of class VII used waste paper, ice-cream sticks and other material to decorate trays, make folders, pen stands and flower vases under their project “Best Out of Waste”. · Value based Modules are being conducted in all classes everyday during the zero period. These modules have a component where the students imbibe the value through an activity or some experiences. Values like discipline, honesty, gratitude, protecting the environment etc. , are being shared with the students. As students follow these up with role-plays or filling up activcity sheets, they learn and imbibe these pertinent values far more effectively.
