- 17 students from classes VIII-XI and 3 teachers visited ‘Mount Ridley College’, Melbourne, Australia as a part of a joint learning initiative to encourage students to be a part of the world community. The visiting delegation participated in a variety of team activities with a focus on Australian Education and Culture. Darshan Sodhi, one of the accompanying teachers, conducted a workshop on ‘Tribal Art of India’ for the Australian students. During their visit, the delegation participated in a number of educational activities which included Art, Woodwork and Cooking Workshops. Mr. Marika, the Coordinator of the programme, gave an insight to the visiting students into the Educational Institutes of Australia for higher studies. The students were also introduced to the Hip Hop style of dancing. The delegation visited Haelsville Wild Life Sanctuary, Hosin Lane, Hatees Street Station, Parliament of Victoria, MCG stadium, the Chocolate Factory, the Penguin Island and Ballaret(Victorian period Gold mines) during their stay. The delegation visited, Sydney for 3 days, before heading back to India. The experience was rich in terms of education and helped reinforce values of team spirit, self discipline, patience etc.
- Daksh Kedia of class V and Aditya Srivastava of class VI brought laurels to their school and city by standing first in the National Science Olympiad and the International Cyber Olympiad respectively. They were felicitated by the Science Olympiad Foundation in a special function organised at Indian Habitat Centre with a cash prize of 50,000/- each along with gold medals and certificates.
- DPS Noida organised a Yoga Session on the occasion of International Yoga Day. The session was conducted according to the protocol set by the Department of Ayurveda Yoga and Naturopathy Unani Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH). The staff and students of DPS Noida, who have been learning yoga in school, assembled to practice the important yogic asanas and kriyas.
The event began with a prayer followed by ‘Sukshm Kriya’or the warm up exercises. Thereafter, important Yogasanas like ‘Tadasana’, ‘Paad hastasan’, ‘Trikonasan”, ‘Vajrasan’, ‘Vakrasan’, ‘Ushtra asan’, ‘Shavasana’ etc weredone under expert guidance. The 12 postures of ‘Surya Namaskar’ were also done perfectly by the spirited participants. After a peaceful session of ‘Kapal Bhatti’, ‘Pranayam’ and Meditation and silence, the entire hall resonated with the reciting of ‘Shanti Paath’ by all, wishing for health and happiness in everyone’s life.
- DPSN won the 1st Runners UP Trophy at the U-19 Football Tournament called 5A Side Street Cup, 2017 (Open Category) held at Rai Sena Football Ground, Gurgaon. 21 teams from Delhi/NCR participated in this Tournament. Kaustabh Yash of class XII was awarded as the Best Player of the Tournament.
