Each year Delhi Public School Noida celebrates India’s cultural diversity and history through the Inter DPS National Heritage Festival-Itihas Ke Jharokhe Se, under the aegis of the DPS Society. It is a concerted effort to assimilate history, educate the students and take them along on a rich journey through the past traditions and customs of India. The themes are carefully chosen, each year, to include not just monuments and objects of art, but also traditions or living expressions inherited from our ancestors such as legends, myths, oral traditions, cultural festivals, performing arts and traditional craft.
The first Heritage Mela was organised in 2011 with participation of 60 Delhi Public Schools from all over the country. This spectacular show subsequently became a cult event, organised year after year with different themes such as Bhoole Bisre Rozgar(lost livelihoods of Indian Society), Natyamanch (folk theatre), Kalakriti (art installation), Maati Pukare, Lost Recipes, the Six Yard Story(Sarees) etc. The events were graced by luminaries from various walks of life-each lauding the effort of students in showcasing the myriad Indian culture in all its glory and richness-events that make the young generation cherish their heritage and revel in it.
This year DPS Noida will be organising the 9th edition of Itihas Ke Jharoke Se- the Annual Inter DPS National Heritage Festival on Sunday, December 22, 2019.
